Waminn’s Chairman U Myint Wai has been awarded the illustrious Order of the Rising Sun (旭日章 Kyokujitsu-shō) (Gold Rays with a Rosette) a Japanese order, established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji of Japan. The order is awarded to those who have made distinguished achievements in the following fields: international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, advancements in their field, development in welfare or preservation of the environment. U Myint Wai is the 3rd person is the history of Myanmar to receive such an award, prior recipients being U Aung San (1915-1947) and Dr Bamaw.

Alongside Dr. Aung Kyaw, U Myint Wai received this award on the 8th of December, 2014 for promoting the friendship between Japan and Myanmar by introducing the Japanese Culture and Technology to the people of Myanmar through his work in the Myanmar Association of Japanese Alumni (MAJA).

Speeches were given by His Execellency Mr. Tateshi Higuchi (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Myanmar), His Excellency Dr Pwint Hsan (Deputy Minister for Commerce), His Excellency Dr. Khin Shwe (Amyotha Hluttaw Representative & Patron of MAJA) and Mr. Masafumi Sato (Supporting Group of MAJA).
